The CacheStats Blog

Welcome to the CacheStats blog!  I am the author of CacheStats which you are probably already familiar with, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this.  In geocaching life, our family's team name is ABCDMCachers.  I plan on using this blog to inform you of CacheStats features and new releases.  But I also hope to add general interest articles about geocaching from time to time.  We'll see how it goes.  One of the new features of soon-to-be-released CacheStats 3.0 is that it can display articles from this blog as well as others.  This will make it especially easy for me to keep you informed of new product releases since the announcements will show directly in CacheStats.  Hope you enjoy reading - feel free to leave comments.

Great program and we are just learning about it. Was wondering how we post FTFs to get them to show up on the stats. Thanks for any advice. Oldravens

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your comments.  Getting your FTFs into CacheStats is a manual process because geocaching.com doesn't track FTFs so there is no automatic way for CacheStats to load them.  But it's not hard to do.  The process is described in the CacheStats FAQ, 9th question down:
http://www.logicweave.com/faq.html

Let me know if you have any questions.

First, let me ask - have you upgraded to CacheStats 3.0 yet?  If not, I encourage you to.  If you have, what is the date that it shows for the gpx file? (Find this on the top of the status and news page).  If it's an incorrect date, sounds like you are loading an old gpx file.  See the 5th question down in the FAQ for more information:
http://www.logicweave.com/faq.html
Let me know if that helps at all or not.

Hard to say what's going wrong, but one possibility is that your email program is blocking the emails or sending them to your junk mail folder.  That would be the first thing that I would check.  If that's not it, I'd recommend searching in the geocaching forums: http://forums.groundspeak.com to see if the topic has been adderessed, or just post a new question.  Good luck.

The last query I got from Geocache.com for my finds cachstat will not open it. Say it doesn't look like the rigth file. I looked in the file and instead of just one Gsak file their are about 60. Has anyone else had this problem. I will wait 7 days and try another guery.
Thanks
Andy

That's a new one to me!  You might want to post what happened on the website forum of the geocaching forums to see if groundspeak is aware of the problem: forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=8

Hello again, Doug!  Just wanted to say thank you for the great new update 3.0!  Just finished downloading it and updating my profile.  Another great job!  And thank you especially for adding the 'terrain difficulty' grid, I had been looking for a way to add that myself.

PS  CacheStats is the only reason I am keeping my old Windows computer around! Wink

I have been getting my found PQ's from Groundspeak in the past.  Since the July fire on the third I can not communicate with Groundspeak. I don't get informed when someone finds my cache. I don't get PQ's. When I try to send them email it comes back undelivered mail.  Has anyone else complained of this problem?
